We woke up at 6:00am to be downtown, find parking, and get in line by 7:00am. The line was around the block, and so we stood...waiting...waiting...in the rain...at 7:00...in the morning...on a Saturday...Geeze we are DEDICATED! The doors finally opened at about 7:45 and we went through security...searching bags, purses, coats, through metal detectors. The funniest part is Marc was wearing a camo coat he had worn duck hunting the week before. As we got closer to the entrance, he started checking his pockets to make sure he was clean...and what does he have???...shotgun shells...not really an item you want to greet the secret service with. Needless to say, he ditched those quickly! (Hahaha, he is hilarious).
Here is the limo parked in front of the building...
Okay, so we make it inside through security and more and more waiting is what is in store for us. Apparently, Sarah Palin doesn't take the stage until 9:45...again, I say, we are DEDICATED! The crowd was excited, we received free signs to hold up and waive (you have the love the free stuff...isn't that one of the best reasons for attending?). While we were at it we purchased yard signs for our house - Yeah Sarah Palin & John McCain -!
Here we are waiting for the rally to start...
Finally, we are graced with the entrance of Sarah Palin. Just being in the same room hearing her talk was inspirational! Honestly, I thought Marc would just stand there and be so unhappy I had made him come downtown early on a Saturday to a Rally...Ugh. However, Marc totally and completely surprised me! He was more into the Rally than I was...(and if any of you have seen us Larson Girls get excited at a concert, or actually, get excited about anything...we instantly become a force to be reckoned with.) I was more interested in Marc than the Rally itself. He cheered, he screamed, he chanted right along with the best of them...SARAH, SARAH, SARAH...DRILL NOW, DRILL NOW, DRILL NOW...USA, USA, USA...McCAIN - PALIN...McCAIN - PALIN...Okay, you get the drift. Well, Marc was right there chanting and cheering for our States Governor. I was so proud of him!
Marc showing his spirit for Alaska and the good old U. S. of A...
Sarah Palin and the speech...
And the rally ends...it was great to be a part of it!
Confetti marking the end of the rally...
This is the first time I have really been excited and interested politics. Honestly, I have never really cared before. My exact words during the George Bush Election..."I am voting for George Bush because he is better looking." What an IDIOT I was in my deciding factor. Could I have sounded any more blonde? The past few years my interest has grown and grown, and now, I am so completely and totally obsessed with the 2008 Presidential Election. Marc thinks I have gone nuts. Every time he comes home I am watching Fox News or CNN... (This coming from someone whose idea of news was the E Entertainment...Celebrity News...oh boy that is so blonde, ditzy, and stereotypical of me!)
It is so interesting what a personal connection will do to heighten your interest in any area. I want to get involved and be apart of it. I am now on the volunteer list at the McCain/Palin headquarters here in town, and I am so excited to get involved and get started. Volunteer options have already come along, however, my working full time has not fit the schedule of any available yet...but I am on the list, and the opportunities are still coming. I just have to wait for one that fits my work schedule. I can't wait!
I am even throwing a Vice Presidential Debate Party at my house on October 2nd. Friends are going to come over, drink, eat, discuss, and watch our Governor duke it out with Joe Biden...we are ready and waiting to watch her cream him!
YEAH SARAH!!
