It's Octobuuurrr...

If you haven't heard me complaining about our short summer and horrible weather already...don't worry, you'll get your chance. Brace yourself...here it comes...and I speak only the truth about this. Our weather up north this year sure has been pitiful. Truthfully, you live in Alaska for the 3 real, true months of summer. The sunshine, the 70 degree temperature, the daylight, the outdoors, the activities, the weather...it is all bliss. Then we set in for another tough 9 months of not so wonderful, blissfully beautiful weather. We get rain, snow, cold, wind, dark, dark, and more dark. Those approximatley 3 great months of weather is not just what we live here for...it is what helps us live through the winter...to survive. However, our short few months of wonderful weather never came through for us this year. We had cold, and rain, and more cold, and more rain, and clouds, and more clouds...you name it...we had it. So my complaint is this. Last year was a cold hard winter, then we are hit with a bad weathered summer...starting another long winter with no break of sunshine is the pitts...it really is. Okay, so we had sunshine...we did...but not much. I believe it was one of the coldest summers on record for Alaska.

I know that it will melt. I know it isn't here to stay. But I also know it won't warm up. It will snow again, and again, and again. It won't be summer again this year. That window has past. So I welcome you winter. Come on in!
